Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in various regions of Odisha over the next three days, attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation located over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjacent Coastal Andhra Pradesh at an altitude of 4.5 km above sea level. This weather pattern is expected to persist.
August 5 – Orange and Yellow Alerts
An Orange Warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj district, indicating a need to prepare for possible actions due to expected heavy to very heavy rainfall in certain areas.
A Yellow Warning has been announced for several districts, including Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Nayagarh, where heavy rainfall is also anticipated at isolated locations. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h may occur in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Anugul, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh.
