Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center in Bhubaneswar issued a forecast on Sunday predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and significant rainfall in multiple areas of Odisha. Coastal districts are likely to experience continued hot and humid weather for the next two days.
The weather office indicated that thunderstorms paired with lightning and surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are expected in isolated locations across Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada until 8:30 am on Monday.
Additionally, heavy rainfall may occur in one or two areas of Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj during this timeframe.
According to the IMD, high humidity and warm conditions are anticipated to persist in certain locations within Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
From 8:30 am on Monday to 8:30 am on Tuesday, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are projected for a few places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
Heavy rain is also likely in isolated regions of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, and Rayagada on the second day of the forecast.
The IMD has urged residents in the impacted districts to stay vigilant during thunderstorms and lightning, and to take necessary precautions when going outdoors. Despite the likelihood of scattered rain and storms, coastal areas are expected to maintain their hot and humid conditions.
