Odisha Experiences Intense Rainfall, Kalahandi's Golamunda Sees 159 MM

Bhubaneswar: Various regions in Odisha have experienced heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours, as reported by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has noted very heavy precipitation at six locations and heavy rainfall at 23 others throughout the state. Golamunda in Kalahandi district recorded the maximum rainfall at 159.0 mm, followed closely by Madanpur-Rampur at 140.0 mm, Bhawanipatna at 139.8 mm, and Junagarh at 136.8 mm, all situated in Kalahandi. Malkanagiri in the Malkangiri district logged 126.6 mm, while Th. Rampur in Kalahandi noted 117.0 mm.

According to the IMD, Kalahandi led the rainfall statistics with several of its stations experiencing significant downpours. Other notable rainfall amounts included 110.0 mm at Mathili in Malkangiri, 109.4 mm at Berhampur in Ganjam, 102.0 mm at Jaleswar in Baleshwar, and 100.0 mm at Patamundai in Kendrapada.

Additionally, heavy rainfall ranging from 65 mm to 98 mm was observed at various stations across Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Balangir, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Nabarangapur, Nuapada, and Baleshwar districts.
