Bhubaneswar: The western part of Odisha has been hit by substantial rainfall over the last 24 hours, with Jharsuguda district topping the state’s charts.
As per information from the regional meteorological center, Jharsuguda recorded 114.3 mm of rainfall, followed closely by Ganjam district’s Chikiti with 111.4 mm and Mayurbhanj’s Betanati at 93.0 mm.
Additional significant rainfall was observed in several locations, including Bamra in Sambalpur with 91.0 mm, Jhumpura in Keonjhar at 85.4 mm, and Koshagumuda in Nabarangapur with 83.6 mm.
In total, 10 weather stations across the state reported heavy rainfall. The average rainfall for Odisha over the last day was recorded at 12.0 mm, slightly below the normal of 14.4 mm, indicating a deficit of 16%.
Regarding temperatures, Paralakhemundi reported the highest maximum temperature at 36.2°C, while Boudh had the lowest minimum temperature at 19.5°C. In the state capital, Bhubaneswar, rainfall measured 38.1 mm, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 34.6°C and a minimum of 25.0°C. Cuttack experienced 14.2 mm of rainfall, with maximum and minimum temperatures of 35.2°C and 23.4°C, respectively.
