Bhubaneswar: Odisha is currently witnessing persistent rain influenced by a low-pressure system. The Meteorological Department forecasts continued rainfall across half of the state today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that a well-defined low-pressure area is situated over Gangetic West Bengal, the northern coast of Odisha, Jharkhand, and the adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to shift west-northwest towards northern Odisha and Jharkhand within the next 48 hours.
Today, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in one or two locations within the Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts, prompting the issuance of an orange warning for these areas. Additionally, significant rainfall is predicted for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Subarnapur districts, leading to a yellow warning being issued for these eight districts.
The department has indicated that the rainfall activity is expected to persist in various locations until September 5th due to the ongoing weather system.
