Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure Area formed over North Bay of Bengal and its surrounding regions at 5:30 AM today, influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation extending from North Bay of Bengal to adjacent Bangladesh. The India Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain in various areas of North Odisha due to this system.
For today, the department has issued an Orange Warning indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall for Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching 40-50 km/h are expected in isolated locations across Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, and Khordha.
A Yellow Warning has also been declared, predicting heavy rainfall at isolated spots over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kataka, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, and Khordha. Thunderstorms with wind gusts of 30-40 km/h are likely in Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Nayagada.
