Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Tuesday that Odisha is expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over the next week.
A yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for several districts, lasting until the morning of September 22. However, rainfall intensity is anticipated to decrease for two days, from September 16 to 18.
According to the IMD, a yellow alert for heavy rain is in effect for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 km/h are also forecasted for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada during this period.
From September 16 to 18, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 km/h may affect Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
On September 18-19, heavy rainfall is expected in Baleshwar, Jajpur, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm activity with gusty winds may occur in one or two locations across Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
Heavy rain is likely on September 19-20 in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, and Ganjam, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
From September 20 to 22, significant rainfall is very likely in one or two locations over Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts.
