Impact and Advisory

The weather department has warned of possible flooding on roads, water accumulation in low-lying urban regions, and risks of landslides in susceptible areas. Disruptions in traffic and minor damages to power lines, unpaved roads, and crops are anticipated due to strong winds. Marine and inland water transportation, including small boats and trawlers, as well as helicopter services, could also be affected.

Residents in the warned areas are advised to remain indoors, secure doors and windows, and refrain from unnecessary travel. They should avoid seeking shelter under trees or leaning against concrete walls during thunderstorms. It is also recommended to disconnect electrical appliances and exit water bodies immediately.

Squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h, is expected along the Odisha coast on August 30-31, prompting a warning to fishermen against venturing out to sea during this time.
