Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that the Southwest Monsoon has entirely withdrawn from Odisha and the rest of India.

The monsoon, which began its retreat from Northwest India on September 19, gradually left Odisha during the previous week. With its complete exit, the Northeast Monsoon has now commenced across South Peninsular India.

Previously, the Southwest Monsoon had fully receded from several districts, including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur. Additionally, it has also withdrawn from the majority of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, and Kandhamal districts, as well as from parts of Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts, according to the IMD.

The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has predicted predominantly dry conditions across most regions of Odisha for the upcoming week, with a slight increase in minimum temperatures.
