Odisha is forecasted to experience persistent rainfall until July 28, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for three districts, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain in certain areas.
Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon remains actively influencing the weather across Odisha, leading to continuous rain.
The IMD’s Orange Alert applies to the Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Kendujhar districts, where isolated regions are expected to see significant rainfall.
In addition, a Yellow Alert has been issued for 12 other districts.
The forecast predicts light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in various locations throughout the state, with rain activity anticipated to persist until July 28.
On the day of Bahuda Yatra, Baleshwar and Mayurbhanj are expected to experience heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning.
Moderate rainfall with intense lightning is likely in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
In the past 24 hours, Athagada recorded the highest rainfall at 21 cm, while Hatadihi in Kendujhar district received 19 mm.
Since June 1, Odisha has accumulated a total rainfall of 526.6 mm, which is 17 percent above the average.
During the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall was noted in 10 districts across the state.
