Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall for various districts in Odisha over the next week, issuing a Red Warning specifically for Mayurbhanj on August 31.
The latest predictions indicate that the heavy rainfall will persist across the state until September 4, with thunderstorms and strong winds expected.
An Orange Warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated on August 29 in one or two locations within the districts of Baleshwar, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj. Additionally, a Yellow Warning is in effect for potential heavy rainfall in areas such as Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h are highly likely in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada. In contrast, a thunderstorm with winds of 30-40 km/h is expected over Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
For August 30, an Orange Warning is again issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghapur, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj, while a Yellow Warning prevails for Jajpur, Kendrapada, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
On August 31, the IMD has issued a Red Warning for Mayurbhanj due to anticipated heavy to very heavy rainfall. An Orange Warning covers Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundaragada, Debagada, Anugola, and Dhenkanal, while a Yellow Warning is in place for Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
Warnings for thunderstorms with strong winds will affect both coastal and inland districts. On September 1, an Orange Warning is issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, and Sambalpur, while a Yellow Warning is in effect for Baleshwar, Debagada, Anugola, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, and Kalahandi. Thunderstorms with gusts of 40-50 km/h are expected in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada, while winds of 30-40 km/h may occur in Debagada, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
On September 2, a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, and Debagada, alongside thunderstorm and gusty wind warnings for most regions in the state. For September 3, a Yellow Warning is again in effect for heavy rainfall in Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, and Debagada, and on September 4, a Yellow Warning is issued for Baragada.
