Bhubaneswar: The ongoing low-pressure system in the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent coast of West Bengal and Odisha has heightened monsoon activity across the state as of Sunday. This situation has prompted the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red warning for six districts, forecasting continued heavy rainfall for the next five days.
The weather office reports that the low-pressure area is expected to gain strength in the next 48 hours, leading to widespread precipitation throughout the coastal, northern, western, and interior regions of Odisha.
A red alert has been issued for the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, and Kendujhar, where certain areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Additionally, an orange warning is in effect for Baleshwar, Sundaragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Boudhgada, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada. Meanwhile, a yellow alert remains in place for Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Deogada, Sonpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Ganjam due to the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
