Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that rainfall will continue in various regions of Odisha over the next week due to an ongoing low-pressure system.
On July 23 (Thursday), the IMD issued an Orange Warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in specific areas of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Keonjhar districts. Additionally, a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall was declared for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj. Most coastal and northern districts may also experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.
From July 24 to July 26, the Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall will remain in effect for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are expected to impact regions including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj during this period.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are anticipated across all districts of Odisha on July 27, with heavy rainfall warnings still in place for Balasore, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. The possibility of thunderstorms with gusty winds will continue in numerous districts.
The wet weather is projected to persist on July 28 and 29, with a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall in one or two locations within Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
The IMD has urged residents, particularly those in low-lying areas, to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against waterlogging, lightning, and strong winds. Farmers and fishermen are also advised to stay updated regularly as the monsoon remains active over the state.
