A new low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal could lead to substantial rainfall across Odisha during the Rath Yatra celebrations. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that rain activity will intensify from July 15.
In Bhubaneswar, forecasts suggest that the impending rains may disrupt the upcoming Rath Yatra festival. The IMD predicts that a cyclonic circulation will develop over the east-central or northeast Bay of Bengal, resulting in heavy downpours in the state.
Several districts, particularly in the northern and western regions of Odisha, are expected to experience rainfall. These include Baleswar, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Baragarh, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Rayagada.
Additionally, areas along the coast and in southern Odisha may see rain; however, residents in coastal regions could still experience hot and humid weather even amidst the rainfall.
The IMD has announced that the weather is set to become increasingly rainy from July 15 through July 21. Heavy rainfall is anticipated from July 17 to 21 due to the developing low-pressure system.
