Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to return to Odisha starting Tuesday, as announced on Monday.
An orange alert has been issued for one or two locations in Kandhamala district on July 14, and for Kendrapada and Gajapati districts on July 15.
The midday bulletin indicated that heavy rain could affect Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj on July 13. On July 14, the same areas will likely see continued heavy rain, with additional regions including Sonpur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Nayagada also affected. By July 15, the rainfall may extend to Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundargada, Kedujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Rayagada, and Ganjam, while Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur are forecasted for heavy rain on July 16.
Additionally, there will be warnings for thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) in various districts, including Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, and more on July 13. The warnings will continue on July 14 for a broader area, including Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, and others. On July 15, the warnings will encompass the same districts, with Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada on alert for July 16-17.
Hot and humid weather conditions may be felt in isolated areas of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada on July 13-14.
The IMD also warned of squally conditions along and off the Odisha Coast, with wind speeds reaching 35-45 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 55 kmph, expected from July 13-17.
