Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to experience another round of significant rainfall starting September 9, following a brief respite, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announcement on Sunday.
For the upcoming week, thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are anticipated in several regions of the state. As a result, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for numerous districts during this time.
In its weather bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has warned of thunderstorms featuring lightning and strong winds, which could reach speeds of 30 to 40 km/h, affecting the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada within the next 24 hours.
The IMD predicts an uptick in rainfall intensity from September 9, with heavy downpours expected in various locations across Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and Kataka on September 9 and 10. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts accordingly.
Additionally, on September 11, heavy rainfall is also likely in the districts of Baleshawar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendhujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamala, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
Moreover, on September 12 and 13, considerable rainfall is expected at certain locations in the districts of Kandhamala, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
