Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected to affect at least nine districts in Odisha over the next three hours, according to a warning released on Saturday.
Issued at 11 am, the alert indicates that light rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is likely to occur in one or two locations across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Boudhagad, Kandhamala, Jharsuguda, Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, and Anugola.
In light of this forecast, the weather agency recommends that residents stay vigilant and monitor changing weather conditions. Individuals are urged to adjust their outdoor plans accordingly and prioritize safety precautions.
Recommendations include avoiding open fields, refraining from seeking shelter under trees, and steering clear of electric poles and conductors during lightning events.
