Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, various regions of Odisha have encountered heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Puri district reporting the highest levels of rainfall in the state.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kakatpur in Puri district topped the rainfall chart with 108 mm. Following closely were Deogaon in Jharsuguda at 100 mm, Banaigarh in Sundargarh with 97 mm, and Kutra in Sundargarh at 95 mm. Other notable rainfall amounts included Akhuapada in Bhadrak with 78.8 mm, Jamankira in Sambalpur with 73.4 mm, along with various locations in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Angul districts.
Overall, the state recorded an average rainfall of 19.5 mm during this period, surpassing the normal of 16.6 mm by 17 percent.
While northern and coastal areas benefited from substantial rainfall, some inland districts such as Boudh, Kandhamal, and Gajapati received relatively less precipitation.
