Bhubaneswar: On August 15, Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will raise the National Flag and take the salute at the state-level celebrations for Independence Day in Bhubaneswar.
The state government has released an official schedule indicating that Majhi will deliver a speech at the gathering, while Deputy Chief Ministers K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will hoist the tricolour in Kalahandi and Sundargarh, respectively.
Ministers have been designated to represent various districts across the state. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari will participate in the festivities in Kataka, while Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik has been assigned to Angola.
Other ministers include School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond in Malkangiri, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister K C Patra in Sambalpur, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan in Ganjam, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling in Rayagada, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in Kandhamala, and Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in Khordha.
Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia will oversee the Independence Day event in Puri. Additionally, Higher Education, Sports and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister Gokulananda Mallik, and Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain will represent Balangir, Baleshwar, Gajapati, and Koraput, respectively.
In several other districts, officials will take charge of hoisting the Tricolour. The RDC (Central Division) will be present in Jagatsinghpur, while the RDC (Southern Division) will attend the ceremony in Brahmapur.
Collectors have been appointed to lead the celebrations in Bargada, Bhadrak, Boudh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagada, Nuapada, and Subarnapur.
The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Raurkela will also participate in the Independence Day events in the steel city.
