The Raurkela Circuit House is embroiled in a significant scandal following the release of a viral video by adult film actress Tina Nandi, which has initiated a comprehensive police inquiry into the alleged misuse of government assets and a fraudulent business operation.
The uproar began when Nandi posted a video on December 1, 2025, in which she discussed her experience at the renovated Raurkela Circuit House. In her remarks, she commended the state guest facility and mentioned an upcoming meeting with a Superintendent of Police (SP) and his son.
Authorities and fact-checkers quickly identified the troubling implications of her statements: the SP referred to by Nandi was actually the late Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, a retired Vigilance SP who sadly died during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unraveling the Details
Police investigations reveal that Nandi’s trip to Raurkela was arranged to promote a gold product for Gehana Trade Gold Private Limited, based on Kachery Road. The company’s director, Edwin Martin Nayar, had extended the invitation to the influencer for the promotional event.
To ensure her stay, arrangements at the prestigious government Circuit House were reportedly made through Ashish Mohanty, the son of the deceased SP, with assistance from staff member Abhishek Das. Nandi was also transported from Jharsuguda Airport in an Audi vehicle owned by Subhendu Panda, who was acting on the instructions of Ashish Mohanty.
Police Action and Ongoing Search
As the video gained popularity online in September 2026, it raised significant concerns about how private individuals and commercial promoters were able to secure accommodations in a restricted government guest house without proper authorization.
Local law enforcement has intervened, detaining Ashish Mohanty and Audi owner Subhendu Panda for detailed questioning regarding their involvement in facilitating Nandi’s stay. Meanwhile, Edwin Martin Nayar, the director of the trading firm, has reportedly gone into hiding as authorities expand their investigation into the broader network involved.
