Star Air is set to enhance air travel in Odisha with the introduction of 24 weekly flights commencing on September 4, 2026. This initiative will establish a direct air route between Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar, along with reinstating the Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda service.
The new flights will operate six days a week, with no service on Wednesdays. Passengers can fly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, providing greater travel flexibility between Telangana and Odisha, as well as within the state.
This connection is anticipated to cater to a diverse group of travelers, including professionals, students, families, and tourists. Those arriving in Bhubaneswar will have convenient access to key destinations such as Puri, the Jagannath Temple, and the Sun Temple in Konark.
The Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda link will also be reinstated, reestablishing direct flights between the state capital and western Odisha. This route will connect Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda and the broader Sambalpur area, which holds significance for both industry and tourism.
The improved connectivity will facilitate easier access to attractions such as the Samaleswari Temple, Huma, and Hirakud Dam. Jharsuguda Airport serves as a crucial aviation hub for Sambalpur and its surrounding districts. The additional flights are expected to boost business travel, tourism, and trade, thereby enhancing economic activities in western Odisha.
