A Rice ATM has been launched in the Dhenkanal district, furthering Odisha’s innovative approach to food security.
The inauguration was conducted by Supply Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, representing the state’s second installation of this kind after those in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda.
This Rice ATM will operate around the clock, allowing beneficiaries to access their designated rice through a system that utilizes fingerprint verification and card numbers. Officials highlighted that this mechanism promotes transparency, convenience, and continuous availability of food grains.
This initiative is part of Odisha’s efforts to modernize the Public Distribution System (PDS). The minister also revealed plans to introduce similar ATMs in each district shortly, broadening the reach of food security benefits throughout the state.
