Official sources have confirmed that the Odisha government will introduce the Sampoorna Pushti Yojana in 18 districts to address malnutrition among children, as part of the Odisha Nutrition Mission.
A budget of Rs 360.68 crore has been allocated for the implementation of this scheme during the years 2026-27 and 2027-28. This funding will be directed towards nutritious food, community service delivery, awareness initiatives, monitoring, nutrition rehabilitation, food quality assurance, and micro-nutrient enrichment programs.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting led by chief secretary Anu Garg. The participating districts encompass Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.
In total, 23,088 anganwadi centres in these districts will be integrated into the scheme. The main objective is to focus on the early detection of malnourished children, their education, and nutritional support. There will be enhanced regular monitoring of child nutrition status via a ‘Poshan tracker’ and a data-driven approach to management. Special attention will be given to the crucial first 1,000 days of a child’s life, addressing low birth weight newborns, and improving child nutrition.
Additionally, the government has prioritized the construction of new anganwadi centres, completion of ongoing projects, and upgrading the infrastructure of existing centres under the ‘Samruddha Anganwadi Yojana.’
