Oriom Group, a well-respected name in Odisha’s industry, is making a significant entry into the rapidly growing real estate market of the state.
Today, the diversified conglomerate, which originated in Jharsuguda and is now based in Bhubaneswar, announced the formation of Oriom Realty. This new division will concentrate on developing high-end residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use projects throughout Odisha.
This initiative represents an ambitious evolution for a company that has built a robust industrial presence in Steel & Power, Specialty Chemicals, and Refractories over the past 21 years. With a workforce exceeding 3,000 and numerous manufacturing sites across eastern India, Oriom Group plans to apply its engineering expertise, project management skills, and financial acumen to create the cities of the future.
“For the last 21 years, Oriom Group has participated in building Odisha’s industrial economy. Today, we believe the State is entering its next defining growth cycle,” stated Mr. Deepak Agrawal, Director of Oriom Group. “Oriom Realty is not merely a diversification; it is a strategic long-term commitment to participate in building the urban infrastructure of a stronger, more prosperous and aspirational Odisha.”
The company’s history in real estate dates back further than many might think. In 2007, during a period of rapid industrial growth in Jharsuguda, Oriom was involved in four multi-storey residential projects that provided modern housing solutions to a city in need. This early foray has now matured into a complete real estate division.
Mr. Rajesh Agrawal, Founder and Director, characterized the launch as “the natural progression of our enterprise.” He highlighted the powerful interplay of infrastructure investments, manufacturing growth, rising incomes, and accelerating urbanization that is generating considerable demand for quality residential and commercial properties across the state.
Mr. Anil Kedia, Director, remarked, “As Odisha strengthens its position as one of India’s leading investment destinations, Oriom Realty will contribute by developing future-ready communities that will set the benchmark for modern living.”
The timing for this launch is particularly advantageous. Currently, Odisha’s urbanization rate is approximately 17%. The state’s ambitious Vision 2036 and Vision 2047 plans aim to elevate this figure to 40% by 2036 and 60% by 2047. Significant investments in infrastructure, including highways, airports, ports, rail systems, and smart-city frameworks—especially in Bhubaneswar, which is becoming Eastern India’s hub for knowledge and investment—are reshaping the region’s growth narrative.
Oriom Realty plans to capitalize on this momentum by creating well-designed residential communities and prominent commercial and mixed-use projects that emphasize high construction standards, sustainable practices, innovative technology, and clear customer communication. The Group assures that its developments will reflect the same robust governance and institutional standards that have characterized its industrial achievements.
“Being ‘built in Odisha and for Odisha’ gives us a unique understanding of the State’s aspirations,” noted Deepak Agrawal. “Our objective extends beyond constructing buildings. We aspire to create urban modern landmarks where families aspire to live and thrive, businesses choose to establish themselves, and investors create enduring value.”
Through Oriom Realty, the Group is transitioning its role from powering Odisha’s factories to constructing vibrant, future-ready cities that will propel the state into its next prosperous chapter.
The first projects are anticipated to emerge in Bhubaneswar and other promising growth areas, heralding a new phase of organized, quality-focused real estate development in the region.
