Jharsuguda: At the 14th International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Conference and Exhibition (IBAAS 2026) held in Jharsuguda, Odisha, Vedanta Aluminium, the leading aluminium producer in India, highlighted its advancements in research and technology.
The company showcased 24 technical papers that focused on various topics including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, alumina refining, aluminium smelting, sustainability, alloy development, and resource recovery, emphasizing its commitment to manufacturing excellence and innovative technologies.
This year’s conference, themed “Global Aluminium Outlook 2030: Secure Resources, Efficient Energy and Value from Wastes,” gathered industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, and academic professionals to explore strategies for securing resources, enhancing energy efficiency, and fostering circular economy practices.
During the inaugural session, Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajesh Kumar, who served as the chief guest, stressed the importance of developing resilient, technology-driven ecosystems. “As demand accelerates across electric mobility, renewable energy, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, the focus must shift towards building future-ready value chains,” he stated.
Contributing to the conversation, Vibhav Upadhyay, COO (Smelter) of Vedanta Aluminium in Jharsuguda, delivered a keynote address that underscored aluminium’s vital role in promoting lightweight solutions, energy efficiency, and achieving ESG objectives.
The company’s efforts were acknowledged with three Best Paper Awards for research in areas such as Carbon Anode Quality Improvement in aluminium smelting, Bauxite Residue to Resource in refining, and Enhancements in Age-Hardening Response of AA6201 Rod in product innovation.
Vedanta Aluminium’s significant involvement in IBAAS 2026 illustrates its dedication to technology advancement, sustainability, and circular practices. The company is responsible for over half of India’s aluminium production, achieving a remarkable output of 2.46 million tonnes in FY26.
