Jharsuguda: Ankit Ghosh, an infamous criminal, was wounded in a police encounter near the Ib River OPM Ghat within the Brajrajnagar police area during the early hours of Monday.
Reports indicate that Ghosh fired at the police upon noticing their presence. In response, the police returned fire, injuring him in the right leg. He was promptly transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jharsuguda for medical care.
A firearm along with live ammunition was confiscated from the scene. Ghosh has an extensive criminal record, with approximately seven serious cases filed against him across various police stations, including allegations of murder and robbery.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
