Jharsuguda: Law enforcement officials have made significant progress in the investigation of a murder case involving a 39-year-old man from Jharkhand. His body was discovered near Muchbahal Medical Road within the jurisdiction of Belpahad police in Jharsuguda district. On Sunday, police announced the arrests of two individuals and the detention of a minor in connection with this incident.
During a press briefing at the Jharsuguda police headquarters, Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra revealed that the suspects were identified through various means, including witness accounts, CCTV footage, and intelligence reports.
Authorities have recovered a stone and a wooden stick, which are believed to have been the murder weapons. Investigations indicate that Srujan Kumar, originally from Gumla district in Jharkhand, was drinking with the accused on the evening of July 2. An argument arose over a past dispute, leading to violence.
The confrontation escalated, resulting in the accused striking Srujan with the stone and wooden stick before fleeing the area.
Srujan’s remains were found the following morning. He had resided in Muchbahal for nearly two decades and worked as a driver for a private company in the Lakhanpur region.
In response to the incident, a special investigation team was formed under the guidance of senior officials to look into the matter.
A case has been filed under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators have been meticulously reviewing witness statements, analyzing CCTV recordings, and collecting intelligence that has led to the suspects’ apprehension.
The suspects have been named as Anil Kishan, 33, from Aenlajharan village in Lakhanpur, and Dillip Kishan, also known as Chunu, 26, from Kishanpada in Belpahad.
Additionally, a minor believed to be involved in the crime has been detained and will be handled according to juvenile justice regulations, according to police.
The recovered stone and wooden stick have been forwarded for forensic analysis.
Police stated that a chargesheet would be submitted to the court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
