Baragada: On Thursday, Pradeep Purohit, the Lok Sabha representative for Baragada, held discussions with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Parliament House, pressing for an expedited pace on several important National Highway initiatives in the districts of Baragada and Jharsuguda.
During their meeting, Purohit presented a memorandum that underscored the urgency for quicker implementation of ongoing highway projects, the prompt approval of new initiatives, and the drafting of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for proposed flyovers and underpasses.
Specifically, Purohit requested that Gadkari speed up the four-laning of the NH-49 segment extending from Jharsuguda to Lakhanpur. Additionally, he asked for the development of DPRs for flyovers and underpasses at critical points along the Sambalpur-Sohela stretch of NH-53, aimed at enhancing traffic management and road safety.
Furthermore, the MP urged the Ministry to hasten the tendering and execution of highway projects previously announced by the Centre, which include the Baragada-Bilaspur route through Bhatli and Ambabhona, the Sohela-Barpali roadway, and the Rampur-Sonpur road.
Purohit stressed that the timely completion of these projects would substantially enhance regional connectivity, support trade and transportation, and promote socio-economic growth in western Odisha. He appealed to Gadkari to prioritize action on the pending proposals and ongoing highway initiatives.
