On Tuesday, Brundha D, the Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Odisha and the Nodal Officer for Jharsuguda district, visited the H Katapali hockey stadium to review the local sports infrastructure and hockey development initiatives.
During her visit, Brundha examined the newly installed turf hockey stadium and praised the Hockey Association of Jharsuguda for their commendable efforts in promoting grassroots hockey.
Jeeban Mohanty, vice-president of the Hockey Association of Odisha, provided insights into the rapid advancement of hockey in the district, detailing successful tournaments, coaching programs, and the accomplishments of local athletes. He emphasized the urgent requirement for additional facilities, such as a spectator gallery and a 5-a-side turf field, to enable the stadium to host significant state and national competitions.
Brundha acknowledged the Hockey Association’s dedication to fostering young talent and enhancing the region’s sports environment. Her visit is anticipated to propel the development of hockey infrastructure in Jharsuguda, further establishing the district as a burgeoning hub for the sport.
