TPWODL Engages Over 2,000 Consumers in Month-Long Solar Initiative Across 44 Camps

Burla (Odisha): TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a collaboration between Tata Power and the Odisha government, made significant strides in promoting rooftop solar solutions during its month-long Seva Setu Abhiyan, which wrapped up on October 17.

Throughout the campaign, 44 camps were set up across seven districts, engaging more than 2,000 consumers and resolving upwards of 300 consumer complaints. This initiative also fostered the adoption of rooftop solar technology, leading to approximately 1,400 applications and 200 installations during the campaign.

The initiative spanned seven districts: Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagada, Sundaragada, Baragada, Balangir, and Nuapada. Participants received guidance on registering for rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and the Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model. Additionally, information regarding relevant central and state subsidies, as well as banking options, was shared to assist households in making well-informed choices about solar energy.

A notable event was a large Seva Setu camp held in Rengali, Sambalpur, attended by Lok Sabha MP and former Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who encouraged locals to consider green energy alternatives.

TPWODL teams provided immediate support for rooftop solar registrations, clarified available subsidy benefits, and addressed consumer inquiries, enhancing residents’ understanding of solar energy adoption.

The Seva Setu Abhiyan was implemented at the block level across both urban and rural regions as a comprehensive service initiative.

To date, TPWODL has facilitated the installation of over 73,000 rooftop solar systems, including 33,587 under the ULA model and 40,023 under the CAPEX model, showcasing the increasing momentum of clean energy adoption among consumers in Western Odisha. Last month, numerous consumers in the region enjoyed zero-unit electricity bills under both the ULA and CAPEX models.
