Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across several regions in Odisha, specifically in the pilgrimage city of Puri, coinciding with the Rath Yatra festival. This weather pattern is anticipated due to a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.
Scheduled for July 16 this year, the renowned Rath Yatra is expected to draw lakhs of devotees from across the nation and beyond.
The IMD’s midday bulletin indicates that a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal and adjacent western Bangladesh coasts within the next 24 hours.
As a result of this developing weather system, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for Puri starting Wednesday and continuing through Friday morning.
